Another loss to boxing

R.I.P Ken Norton, gone but never Forgotten, great boxer, fearsome puncher. One of the all time greats.

R.I.P. Dean Powell

Shocked at the news, Dean Powell had died. A sad Day for Boxing, the loss of a great coach, match maker, and a nice guy. Gone but never forgotten. My thoughts and sympathy to his family and friends.

The 500th Anniversary of the Battle of Flodden

Since I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne This battle is on my doorstep,  and It has always been one of my favourite battles. I went with my youngest son and three good friends of mine. We met up with a huge group on Pipers hill and waited for things to get underway. Wreath laying for the fallen on both sides, A piper who knocked out a few Scottish tunes. Then the bit I wanted Mr Clive Hallam Baker started the battlefield walk. first looking at the weapons used on the day, Pike, cannon balls, billhooks swords and longbow, complete with arrows which in itself was Fascinating amazing technology behind them. Then out onto the battlefield starting with the first action on the Scottish left the ground here being well suited to the pike blocks. I won't bore you with the details, needless to say the few hours we walked and listened flew by. A huge thank you has to go to Clive for such an informative Talk. The field is well worth a visit. Our first thought was why the hell would the scots give up such a commanding postion but all the parts fall into place, one you look at the ground and listen to Clive's narrative of the battle. what surprised me most was a ridge hallway down Pipers hill in the English center at least 20 feet higher than the bottom of the valley virtually invisible to both sides. It was still a strange feeling standing on  ground where 500 years ago so many fell.
The monument to the fallen of both nations top of Pipers hill

A closer look at the wreaths layed on the day

A picture left to right me looking cool haha Peter, Craig. Peter, who all enjoyed the day

Last one, a picture looking from James division on the Scottish right wing over to the English centre, the picture gives an impression of how steep the ground is (nearly killed me to climb it haha)
Hope you liked it. Have a great week

Claymore show

Another great friendly show, really enjoyed it some great games on show, and my favourite trade stand Pendraken. I paid for some pre-order figures and walked away happy with my purchases, only to find myself being drawn mystically back, i'm sure Leon And Dave and their stand are Sirens (mmm maybe not the beautiful ones from greek mythology, must make an eye test appointment) luring the unsuspecting gamer to their financial doom HAHA, (Just teasing guys) I ended up buying a WW1 Early French army and more paint as if I need more lead to add to the mountain. All in all great day, spent with friends a few beers thrown in later  can life get much better
All the best

Hi everyone

Thanks to everyone who visits my page, and those of you who are kind enough to follow my painfully slow progress.  I'm sorry things have been quiet as of late but I've been so busy with work and life I suppose, but I will post some pictures this week I promise. Been working on British cavalry for the 45', another clan unit the Stewarts of Appin, also more Carthaginians Heavy Nellies, and I've finished my roman infantry pack (WOULD HAVE BEEN QUICKER TO TRAIN AN ACTUAL LEGION )
I also decided to upgrade my heavy citizen infantry from 8 per base to 10, so all need re-basing. I will post some pics this week
Have a great week everyone

Done a little painting,

Slowly getting my painting mojo back, did a figure for a pressie. Sculpted by the Perry brothers. Love the figure and the subject

was a pleasure to paint, hope I did it justice. While painting this figure I carried on with my 10mm Carthaginians, this time more veterans sculpted by the very talented Phil over at Pendraken. Hope you like them

I went for command with roman equipment and standards as I wanted them to look as if they are using captured roman equipment (just to annoy my roman figures haha). Will post some through the week, just finished some scots guns for my 45' project.
Take care everyone have a great week, and welcome to my new followers
All the best Sean

New year and a huge update

Hi everybody hope the hangovers are doing ok haha...i'm posting this update then going to work on my own hangover. Updates are casualty marker, Clan Mcdonald, Carthaginians foot and horse, Romans, and finally WOTR Infantry royal division hope you enjoy, thanks for looking
I decided to make a casualty marker, not my idea found it on another blog, liked it and wanted one in 10mm instead of using card markers, The reaper is 10mm Pendraken, a 25mm steel washer, and magnetic tape off e-bay. I'm happy how he turned out

Next up another Highland clan the first unit of McDonalds {not ronald McDonald before you ask}

As Always 10mm Pendraken, only a minor moan, no pipers, you got to have pipers with higlanders, but beautiful figures all the same.

Next up Carthage

That finished all the figures from my army pack A work in progress are my veterans below

This first element needs to be based will look better when complete but love the figures, again Pendraken new range

Finally WOTR work in progress men at arms done longbowmen started only one element based and flocked
Thanks for looking hope you enjoyed
all the best Sean
